Sunway University has risen 22 places in the QS Asia Ranking 2021, moving up from position 194 to position 172. This puts the University in the top 1.5% of universities in Asia and well on track to be in the top 100 by 2025.

Three researchers from Sunway University -  Prof. Edward Tiekink, Prof. Saidur Rahman and Prof. Mohamed Kheireddine Aroua were listed in the recently published Mendeley dataset. The ranking was done among the 100,000 authors around the world.

Professor Mohamed Kheireddine Aroua (Associate Dean (Research) and Head of Research Centre for Carbon Dioxide Capture and Utilisation) had received official appointment as MyRA’s Lead Auditor for Sunway University (SUNWAY) from year 2021-2023.

Distinguished Professor & Head for Research Centre For Crystalline Materials, Professor Edward Tiekink had his paper "Perplexing Coordination Behaviour of Potentially Bridging Bipyridyl-Type Ligands in the Coordination Chemistry of Zinc and Cadmium 1,1-Dithiolate Compounds" selected as the best paper of Special Issue "Crystal Chemistry of Zinc, Cadmium and Mercury". 

The School of Hospitality is delighted to announce that it will host the APacCHRIE Conference in 2022. APacCHRIE or the Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education is a leading not-for-profit professional association, which provides programmes and services to continuously uplift the quality of global education, research, service and business operations in the hospitality and tourism industry. 

At a recent discussion with Professor Sibrandes Poppema (Sunway University) and Professor Sven Pettersson, honorary professor at Sunway University from Nanyang Technological University Singapore, visited the School of Hospitality to understand further about aspects of healthy food. 

At a recent research seminar hosted by the Higher Degree by Research candidates (HDR) at the James Cook University Singapore, Prof Marcus Stephenson was invited to present his research entitled “Special interest tourism: A social scientific perspective”.

Sunway University's Centre for Higher Education Research (CHER) secured funding of 178,000 Euros from the British Council for the project, 'Study on Enhancing Intra-ASEAN Student Mobility'.  Check out the final report here.
