Alvin graduated with a BSc in Business and Commerce with specialised interest in economics and management at Monash University. Upon the completion of his first degree, he continued his pursuit of MSc Development Finance at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University London.

Alvin began his academic career with Monash University Malaysia, after which he joined Sunway Business School in 2012. He teaches economics at the undergraduate level.
