Teaching Fellow and Head Chef Patrick Siau, from the School of Hospitality (Sunway University) has recently been appointed by the Professional Culinaire Association as Team Coach for the Asian Pastry Cup 2018. He previously participated in the 2010 edition as well as the World Pastry Cup in 2011 in the capacity of Malaysia National Pastry Team Captain.

Dr Low Yeh Ching from the Department of Computing and Information Systems presented her paper titled “Statistical Modeling for Review Ratings Data” at the 6th International Conference on Knowledge Discovery 2017 at Penang, Malaysia on 25th November 2017. Her presentation was selected as one of the best presentation at the conference.

Two students, one from Sunway University and another from Sunway College embarked on a two-week long exchange programme at the Peking University, China. In exchange, two students from Peking University were at Sunway University for a month.

On 28th August 2017 in a ceremony at the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) office in Cyberjaya, Sunway University was awarded the status of ‘Premier Digital Institution of Higher Learning’. This first-ever special status was awarded to only 8 universities in the country for offering the best IT education and IT infrastructure. This award highlights Sunway University’s efforts especially the Department of Computing and Information Systems in empowering IT graduates by enhancing their digital skills in order to meet industry-demands.
