Sunway ADTP student shines in the US

After graduating from the American Degree Program at Sunway University, Mahder Serekberhan, a double major in international studies and political science, transferred to Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she has showcased her leadership and academic skills.  An honors student, she has written a paper on diplomatic and trade relations that was accepted for a poster presentation at the Midwest Political Science Association Conference.

Dr Yong Min Hooi Awarded Newton-Ungku Omar Fund

The School of Science and Technology is delighted to announce that Dr Yong Min Hooi (Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology) and her collaborator, Professor Louise Phillips (Chair in Psychology at the School of Psychology, University of Aberdeen, UK), have been awarded a £128,461 grant by the prestigious Newton-Ungku Omar Fund for their project “Social Cognition and Executive Function Among Older Adults in the UK and Malaysia: Links to Socio-economic Factors”.

Sunway Communication Students hit the ground running with charity events.

The end of the year is a barren time to seek endorsements and sponsorship from companies as most have exhausted their funds. This was the scenario faced by the students of the BA (Hons) Communication taking the Events Management class in August 2017. Their project which was to be assessed, was the organisation of a charity dinner and they had set their sights on raising funds for the charity, Rumah Hope.

Sunway University January 2018 Graduation Ceremony

This year 607 Sunway University graduates took to the stage to receive their scrolls in two sessions with the biggest cohort of 308 graduates from Sunway University Business School. 21 graduates with outstanding results from various disciplines under the Sunway University Business School, School of Arts, School of Hospitality, School of Mathematical Sciences, and School of Science and Technology received the Jeffrey Cheah Scholastic Award which comes with a RM2,000 cheque and certificate.

Best IPTS for the THIRD time in Sukan Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi (SUKIPT) 2018

Sunway University sent 154 athletes to take part in 18 sports for the fifth edition of SUKIPT this year. SUKIPT is Malaysia’s largest University sports competition and the 2018 edition has got 80 institutions and more than 6,000 athletes took part. Contingents came from public universities, private universities, Polytechnics, Community Colleges and, 4 overseas universities from Thailand, Singapore, India and Indonesia.

Sunway University’s School of Science and Technology (SST) recently played host to the Directors of two major United States research funding bodies. Dr Patricia Gruber, who is the Technical Director of the Office of Navy Research Global (ONRG) and Dr Kristopher Ahlers, the Director of the Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD), spent a day listening to presentations from SST researchers and taking guided tours of three of the SST laboratories.
